Dive Into The UI/UX Design — Usability Analysis
In the previous section, We learned to conduct a usability test, but how can we analyze its data to enhance the user experience of the design. In this article we will learn how to solve these conducted problems.
How to analyze your data?
Keeping track of the participants’ comments and their actions using note-taking templates to keep everything consistent and easy-to-interpret. The results seem obvious, but we must prioritize the needed changes first.
In order to do so, we should look for ways to highlight similarities and differences in the data, both positive and negative.
What should a usability report include?
You must think about the goals you want to achieve with this test and create your report table with needed columns that I suggest a template in my previous article Dive Into The UI/UX Design — Usability Testing, But it’s good to mention:
- Bugs & issues
- Recommendations & action items
- Additional information
List the most important points and moments that participants experienced during the test, that may have affected or skewed the results of the test. This list must have the priority column, that shows the action time in sprint planning, like to be fixed later, while still keeping the focus of the report on the main research goals.
